Establishment of Nachtigal Hydro Power Company (NHPC), the Special Purpose Vehicle of Nachtigal amont hydroelectric project

Nachtigal Hydro Power Company (NHPC), a Cameroonian limited company based in Yaoundé, was established on 7 July 2016. 40% of its shares are held by EDFI, 30% by International Finance Corporation and 30% by Cameroonian State.
The establishment of the company by the consortium’s members is consecutive to the signing of a Joint Development Agreement in November 2013, and occurred on the eve of critical milestones for the project.
NHPC will finalise the development activities and raise the financing among DFIs (Development Finance Institutions) and local commercial banks. Then NHPC will have in charge the construction of the hydroelectric facility and transmission lines, and the operation of the power-plant during 35 years.
